Possibly the American food, it's certainly one of our favorites. The best options are, of course, delicious, but some also get our attention for adding a twist rather than perfecting the classic formula. If you think we left out a deserving nominee, let us hear about it!

Little Nugget Diner

The Nugget Diner, known just as 'Awful Awful' to most locals has one of the best-known burgers in town. The Awful Awful stands for 'Awful Big and Awful Good which is the perfect description of the burger. Awful Awful is open 24 hours. The Awful Awful has been served the same way for 50 years, making this burger a Reno legend. The atmosphere on the outside may seem a bit uncertain, but once inside the hustle and bustle of the always-crowded diner (only about 20 people can be served at once) makes it perfect for locals and tourists alike. The Diner only accepts cash. The Diner also supplies take-out and on-site merchandise. Prices are under $9.00, the Awful Awful costing $6.50

This basic burger joint it perfect if you're nearby and even worth a drive. Burgers are set apart by their delicious simplicity, though Texas toast is always an optional bun substitute. The morning treats patrons to hotcakes, breakfast burritos, while lunch and dinner even feature some pasta.

Old Granite Street Eatery

From the owners of Imperial comes a spot more focused on food, but with choice cocktails (and wines and beers like Hook Norton) served alongside. The downtown spot is a mixture of contemporary attitude with lots of rustic style, filled with re-purposed touches and serving upscale, focused dishes with ingredients from local (Wolf Pack Meats) or at least independent sources.

Clary's menu covers all the bases from chicken strips to Monte Cristo sandwiches to bacon rings to burgers, and that's where things get crazy. Juicy's Giant Hamburgers

Juicy's serves some of the best hamburgers and fries in town. Housed in an old-fashioned wooden building, Juicy's also has picnic style outdoor seating. They have huge burgers, fun old games, and decent prices. The restaurant has spacious indoor seating and a bustling atmosphere.
