Thin crust is the way I like my pizza and Nu Yalk hits the mark. The draft beer selection is good. Great local place.

I love Nu Yalk for a slice or 2 of plain/cheese pizza. It is a little spendy for a whole pie, and you left coasters who like to load up your pie with lots of toppings might find that the authentic NY style crust might not jive with lots of toppings. I wish it were easier to get in and out of, but it is fast once you get in there. Nothing beats a Rolling Rock and a slice. Now if only they were open late night!

I'm a little bit torn on this particular restaurant. First and foremost, the pizza is good... I wish it was crazy amazing fantastic, but it's not.
Though my real hiccup is the price. When I think of "New York" pizza, I imagine big old slices of thin crust cheesy pizza. The pizza here was 'average' sized, or rather, 'traditional' size. When you factor in the price, location, atmosphere and standard 'to-go' service, it just didn't add up for me, as least not as a place I'd frequent.
If you havent' been here, it's worth a visit, particularly because of its central location and lack of alternatives in the area. I just wish it was a better value for when you want to pickup a bunch of pizzas to feed your friends and family something delicious.

New York style pizza has a few specifications that make it different than just pizza pizza: Thin crust (but with a noticeable crusty edge), large foldable slices, the perfect marriage of sauce, Italian spices, and cheese. I picked up a pizza to go in Nov. '08, a medium, with mushrooms and was fantastic. It had a generous amount of toppings along with Italian spices imbued in the mozzy and 'shrooms. Personally, I prefer a little more "yeasty" dough, but that is not a New York Pizza style requirement. Each bite, melty & delicious, was too gooey with cheese to eat without a fork. Yes, that's a good thing.
Great pizza, however, their is one thing that will keep my frequenting Nu Yalk to a less-than desired amount: the price. For a medium pizza with one-topping I paid slightly over $20 (with tax included). Nu Yalk, I love you, but you're bringing me down. Maybe that's because their cheese is real, or that they pay their employees right, but for take-out, it's hard to want to pay more than $16 for a medium pizza.
