Amy Winehouse, title TBA
The British R&B sensation turned tabloid trainwreck has allegedly been getting her career back on track since mid-2009, when she retreated to St. Lucia in the Caribbean to work with Salaam Remi, the producer behind half of Winehouse’s breakthrough album, “Back to Black.” Winehouse’s U.K. label, Island Records, forecast a 2010 release for the long-awaited “Back to Black” follow-up—but all that materialized was a fairly unremarkable cover of Lesley Gore’s “It’s My Party” for a Quincy Jones tribute album. That track was produced by Winehouse’s better-known collaborator, Mark Ronson, who as of July 2010 was still telling reporters he and Winehouse hadn’t begun work on her next album—even as Winehouse was confidently declaring the album would be out by January. With reports of her showing up drunk to a recent gig in Moscow, it’s looking less and less likely that we'll hear new music from the troubled singer anytime soon.
