The Wanderlust music and yoga festival, which debuted last year up at Squaw Valley USA, is returning for another go-around, and Moby is this year's headliner.
Wanderlust will once again take place at Squaw, lasting the weekend of July 29 – August 1.
The 2010 musical lineup eschews much of the indie rock/pop that the festival was steeped in last year, perhaps wisely going with artists that more naturally align with the yoga and other spiritual/wellness/metaphysical aspects of the event.
Moby certainly has mainstream appeal as a rock and electronica artist, but he is more dance and ambient-oriented than last year's Spoon or Michael Franti/Spearhead headliners.
Secondary headliners include Bassnectar and Brazilian Girls — more electronica entities that should appeal to yoga and Burner-types.
The lineup also includes many jam and world music artists.
While the musical focus of the event has certainly shifted, it should complement the yoga part better, attracting more people interested in every aspect rather than those there just for the poses or just for the indie.
As the news release says, it's "both music to flow to and music to dance."
The rest of the lineup consists of Pretty Lights, Yard Dogs Road Show, Beats Antique, Rupa & The April Fishes, MC Yogi, Orgone, Princess Superstar, Dave Stringer, DJ Dragonfly, Ana Sia, The Mayapuris, Shaman’s Dream, Rara Avis and Desert Dwellers.
Many of those acts will play after dark in lounge and club settings at the village.
The yoga side of things looks mostly unchanged, with many of the same gurus and superstars of the yoga world returning, such as Shiva Rea. More names you might recognize include Seane Corn, Baron Baptiste, Duncan Wong, Elena Brower and Schuyler Grant.
Advance tickets are on sale Feb. 16 with passes for both music and yoga events running $340 for three days or $420 for four days. Music-only day passes will go on sale May 4.
