Jeff Bridges as "Bad" Blake in "Crazy Heart"
This was Bridges' fifth nomination and first win. He was previously nominated as best actor for "Starman" in 1985 and three times as best supporting actor: "The Contender" in 2001, "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot" in 1975 and "The Last Picture Show" in 1972.
He also won a Golden Globe and SAG award for "Crazy Heart." The movie was originally set for release in 2010, but distributor Fox Searchlight made a late decision to open in 2009 and maybe get Bridges an Oscar. It worked.
