"The Hunger Games" (March 23)
Stars: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson Director: Gary Ross ("Seabiscuit")
Already hyped as "the next 'Twilight,'" this dystopian sci-fi thriller based on a popular series of young adult novels has a big creative advantage: its source material is actually good. 21-year-old Oscar nominee Lawrence ("Winter's Bone") headlines as teen heroine Katniss Everdeen, a volunteer in a government-run competition that pits 24 kids in a battle to the death. Bad news for the burgeoning romance between Katniss and a fellow competitor (Hutcherson). If the kick-ass trailer is any indication, fans should expect to see sequels "Catching Fire" and "Mockingjay" on the big screen soon enough.
