"Dark Shadows" (May 11)
Stars: Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Bella Heathcote, Helena Bonham Carter Director: Tim Burton ("Alice in Wonderland")
Depp has long wanted to play vampire icon Barnabas Collins in an adaptation of the cult favorite '60s horror soap "Dark Shadows," and it sounds like a perfect fit for his seventh live action collaboration with Burton. This big screen re-imagination follows Barnabas, a vampire from 1752 who wakes up in 1972, and his kooky descendants in the Collins family. The creative pedigree, planned IMAX run and summer event movie status should give it an edge over the other revamped versions of TV staples due in 2012: "21 Jump Street" (March 16) and "The Three Stooges" (April 13).
