This Place was very Small, But What it lacked In size it definatley paid off in the hospitality. They made us feel very welcome. Especially after the rude treatment we had just recieved from the other casinos in Carson City.

Were Do I begin. A cousin of mine had a close friend pass away in Carson City Nevada.He asked me and two others 2go for moral support. Us Being the good friends we are, we made the 5hr drive almost loosing our lives in the process. The weather was Horrible, Driving 35mph the whole trip and spinning out on Black Ice a Numerous of times. Anyway, We arrive in Carson well after i estimated time of arrival (ETA) This leaving all friends and family asleep being that the sun is rising soon. its about 4 in the AM. So we pull off tothe 1st place that looks like we can book a room and whinedownAlil with some drinks,Since we dont drink and drive,,and maybe we can try our luck on some slots waiting for a descent hr to contact the friends and family of the deceased letting them know about our late arrival. Cactus Jack Being that 1st place we sought out. We was immidiatly greeted very RUDELY by what appeared to be a Elderly Security Gaurd That was performing The Maintence and Bartending tasks! HE states aloud,"WHO COMES TO THE BAR AT FOUR IN THE MORNING!" he then proceeds to the bar without even washing his hands after cleaning the floors,tables and etc.(toilets i assume) and asks what were drinking. I orderd a round of jager bombs for me and 3of the 4friends im with because one of us doesnt drink, he replys. "We dont do bombs!" adn walks away. i had ordered JagerBombs Because were dead tired from our 8hr road trip,wich May i remind u was only soppose 2b a 5hr drive and we almost died on our way 2 a funeral! He comes back briefly with the Floor Manager whos even Ruder then he is! Saying,"All U GUYS BETTER BE GAMBLING! I ONLY SEE ONE PERSON GAMBLING!" IM thinking to myself "I JUST GOT THROUGH DRIVING in THE RAIN WE DIDNT STAY LONG....IVE NEVER BEEN TREATED SO RUDELY! I WANTED TO SLAP EM ALL AROUND BUT MY PARENTS TOUGHT ME BETTER THEN THAT! The Staff Should learn how 2 TREAT PEOPLE LIKE THEY WANT TO B TREATED AND NOT LIVELIFE OF ASSUMTIONS! Ignorance must B BLISS! Another fantastic night with Briscloa. The names may be changing but the service is the same. Just had a one-of-a-kind evening at Briscola with a visit from the man, Charlie Palmer. He was very gracious and spoke eloquently with my 86 year old grandmother and mother-inlaw the same. What a great night with all involved. The food was top notch and the new chefs were extremely creative and personable with multiple visits.

It's a rising from the dead of the old Thai Spice Kitchen that closed in Carson a few years back. Not that that version was ever one of my most fave places, OK they did a few good things like Spicy Basil Noodles, and they could make it really hot if you wanted. The same owners are here, Gina and Otto ( good Thai names!) and they have pretty much brought the old menu back with some additions in the noodle soup areas. The locations is not the most uptown up scale, but the rent was a deal, so there you go. The inside is actually very attractive. The capacity is small, but not an issue at this point. We ordered the Spicy Basil noodles 3 stars heat ($9.95), Panang Curry ($9.95) and Pad woo sen, stir fried silver noodles ($9.95). The taste of the food I think , has actually improved over the old place....it might be a different cook. The spicy basil noodles were just the right spice level, just enough to break a sweat! The silver noodles had that good wok seared burnedness to it. The panang curry was very flavorful, although a bit thinner then I like, but mixed with rice, it didn't really matter. I did think that the portion sizes have gotten smaller, but with the rising food costs , what are you gonna do? It not often that I see restaurants improve with time, but this one has with its new location in Reno. It's not a fancy date place, like Bangkok South or Taste of Thai, but they do have some good food here now.

Sorry can't agree with this one, Oceano ... really? Been several times, the Salmon Roe tastes weird, and the variance of the cooks abilities is too much. One order id good the other sloppy. Kitzmo is the best in my book, but I guess a business is not even on the list unless there is already a MetroMix link. IJJI has gone downhill lately with their cost cutting measures on sushi production. If you want a waiting line for just OK sushi, Hiroba is the place. The Eldorado Sushi Sake is good, but the casino is so loud , you can barely communicate with the chef.

Kris, over at Bangkok does a good job of pleasing the Reno crowd. It's sort of like the PF Chang's of Thai. Cordial English speaking servers, a full bar and western desserts and Thai food to accommodate the American taste. His business model works. I like Bangkok South better, cause the interior is quite elegant. My real fave in Reno is actually Taste of Thai off Lakeside.

Well, I guess The Jade Palace wins a lot cause thats what Renoites want, a safe place to have American Chinese food. I go to 168 for real Chinese food, but then again real is something you might not want. If you want upscale creative cooking, and safe too, go to Jazmine.

Find it SO hard to believe this won two years running. Just had brunch there on Saturday and was quite possibly the worst omelet I ever had, and my husband's steak and eggs wasn't any better. My omelet was so overdone it was nearly inedible, it was overcooked on the inside, how do you do that, and there was so much cheese on it, it was dripping off the outside, lke an ocean. My husband's steak was raw on one end, and like shoe leather on the other.The last time we were there, our meal was equally bad, we will not be going back.

If this is what Reno has to offer, I feel sorry for the women in this town. I used to work in nightclubs in large cities where men dressed up and so did the women. Some jackwagon throwing a "shocka" in a pair of jeans? Yeah that's class ladies, have fun with that guy. And the baseball hats? Jeebus, what "classy" club lets their patrons wear baseball hats, jeans and t-shirts? A classy Reno club I guess.... Like I said ladies, I feel sorry for you if this is what you have to deal with. Many of you actually dressed up and looked great.
