Celebrating the country's rising stars with dishes, and dish, from Andrew Carmellini, Daniel Humm and Michael Voltaggio
Like ramps and morels, back patting is in season every spring as NYC’s culinary pros and journalists join for a number of awards programs. (TONY gave out their Eat Out hardware on Monday night; the James Beard Awards are a month away).
On Tuesday evening, Food & Wine acknowledged the Best New Chefs in America—a meticulous talent search that has long stood as a coming-out party for the country’s rising talents. (Last year’s winners alone included Paul Liebrandt, Nate Appleman and the duo behind L.A.’s Animal). We caught up with this year's NYC representative, A Voce’s Missy Robbins (yes!!), and some of the past rising stars tasked with catering the gala.
Interviews include Andrew Carmellini (Locanda Verde), Daniel Humm (Eleven Madison Park), Dan Silverman (The Standard Grill), Gabriel Kreuther (The Modern), Liebrandt (Corton), Gail Simmons and “Top Chef” winner Michael Voltaggio (pictured).
