Wingfield Park
First Street and Arlington Avenue - RenoDowntown Reno. Not really a beach, but the park on the Truckee River is very convenient and has great river access. The big stage hosts many events in the warm summer weather (with good local bands playing Music in the Park). Grab a tube and brave the rapids in the white water park or just swim on your own, and then relax on the grass to warm back up. Whenever the sun is out during the summer, this place is a popular choice with good reason.
Stampede Reservoir
Stampede Dam Road - SierraNortheast of Truckee, about 33 miles from Reno. Offers camping, hiking, swimming and watersports on the man-made lake.
Sparks Marina Park
300 Howard Drive - SparksIn Sparks. Features a 77-acre lake with fishing, swimming, picnics, boating, scuba diving, wind surfing, trails, dog park, volleyball courts, playgrounds and concession stand.
Boca Reservoir
Boca Lake road - TruckeeNortheast of Truckee, about 27 miles from Reno. It's open to water sports, fishing, swimming and just relaxing by the water with a picnic.
West End Beach
15888 S. Shore Drive - TruckeeWest of Truckee on Donner Lake, about 40 miles from Reno. Fairly cold water makes for interesting swimming, but there's also good sand, barbecue areas, a playground, concessions, paddleboat/kayak rentals, basketball courts, tennis courts and volleyball courts. This place charges admission: $2 for youths and $3 for adults.
Sand Harbor State Park
State Route 28 south of Incline Village - Incline VillageSouth of Incline Village, about 40 miles away. Near Lake Tahoe-Nevada State Park, Sand Harbor hosts the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival during the summer and also has a beautiful beach with fine-grain sand, swimming, snorkeling and visitor center.
Kings Beach Regional State Park
California 28 and Secline Street - Kings BeachIn Kings Beach, about 42 miles away. There's about 700 feet of beach with beautiful views and a spot where they hold summer concerts.
Commons Beach
Grove Street - Tahoe CityIn Tahoe City on the west shore, about 47 miles from Reno. Offers great shoreline views of Lake Tahoe and is the site of music and movies during the summer.
Skylandia Park and Beach State Recreation Area
Lake Terrace Avenue - Tahoe CityIn Tahoe City on the west shore, about 49 miles from Reno. Very dog friendly with swimming area, walking paths and nearby places to chow down.
Zephyr Cove Resort & Marina
750 U.S. 50 - Zephyr CoveNorth of Stateline, about 54 miles from Reno. The beach is ready to party with swimming, groups areas, wonderful sand, waterfront massages and volleyball courts.
Round Hill Pines Resort Beach (Zephyr Cove)
325 Highway 50 - Zephyr CoveNorth of Stateline, about 55 miles from Reno. Beautiful sandy beach, concessions stand, pool, marina, tennis court, horseshoe pit and volleyball nets. General parking is $8.
Sugar Pine Point State Park
7360 Westlake Blvd. - TahomaSouth of Tahoe City on the west shore, about 56 miles from Reno. Nearly two miles of beach surrounded by forest, with swimming, hiking, camping, bike trails and the famed Hellman-Ehrman Mansion.
Pope Beach
Pope Beach Road - South Lake TahoeWest of South Lake Tahoe, about 65 miles from Reno. This beach has plenty of shade and is mostly natural, with just some barbecue spots for your dining convenience.

Wow, you folks forgot about Pyramid Lake. Only 35 miles north of Reno/Sparks area, day use for the whole lake is $6.00! for any of the beaches! ...
