The downtown Biggest Little Tailgate Party has many ways to eat, play and help on the day before the Super Bowl. One that requires a little skill and a love of the brew is the so-called Beer Pongs Olympics.
Standard rules apply, with teams attempting to land a ping pong ball into their opponents cups of beer, forcing them to drink it down. First team with no cups remaining loses.
For $5, anyone 21 or older gets admission to play throughout the day. A sign-up list for games starting at noon will be available at 11 a.m., and teams must include two people. The winning team gets to stay at the table, while the losers must sign up again for another shot at glory. If a game goes longer than 15 minutes, a sudden death cup is added to the table.
What's in it for players? Aside from the entry fee going to the Pop Warner Little Scholars program, bragging rights are plentiful and the possibility of drinking lots of beer looks good.
Beyond the beer pong, you can eat lots of chili for cheap (part of a contest you can help judge), gamble on your ability to toss a football, hang with pro football players and see the Bud Girls. Admission is free, so it's easy to wander through and see if anything .
The Biggest Little Tailgate Party takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the middle of Virginia Street between Second and Fourth streets.
