If you think air guitar is ridiculous, you've got a friend in Craig "Hot Lixx Hulahan" Billmeier. The reigning world champion of air guitar asked the crowd at the Friday Night Art Market on Sept. 5 if they felt ridiculous. If they didn't, they soon would know a new definition of the term. Hulihan performed two songs, the first with an accompanying air drummer and bassist pulled from the crowd.
The thing about air guitar is that does look so silly and hilarious but also clearly takes skill and tons of practice. Next week at the market, Reno's best faux fiddlers will compete in air guitar, so if you like what you see, get ready for a lot more.
I told Hulihan I recognized him from some videos, but he quickly explained, "I was young and needed the money."
