Goodbye concert for Satellite moved to Lincoln Lounge because of insurance issues. Same details apply: Jan. 15, free, with Promises Promises and DJs.

Only three months after celebrating its fifth birthday, the Satellite Cocktail Lounge has been sold and will be closing Jan. 16 for a couple months of renovations.
After that, the name, the music and the purpose are all up in the air and up to new owners.
But for now, it’s time to celebrate. Tonight, a free show at Lincoln Lounge will celebrate the now-closed Satellite.
“We’re saying goodbye to five and a half years of music and memories,” said Ryan Goldhammer, who does booking for the bar. “It’s a bummer.”
Playing on Thursday will be power-pop rockers Promises Promises, and then DJ AFS, DJ Andrew and DJ Mesh will take over to carry things through the night.
Goldhammer fears there’s not a lot of other options for local bands struggling to get something started, and remembers local staples such as Promises Promises, Back Harlow Road and Think in French all playing their first show at the bar.
Besides those debuts and countless local shows, there were also the national acts “that had no business playing a place that small,” Goldhammer said.
Jaguar Love, the Helio Sequence, Augustana, Radar Bros. and the Lovemakers are some that quickly come to mind.
Goldhammer is also considering creating a special poster made from the bar's many show fliers to give out on Thursday.
Other events
A Get Fresh Friday event that would have been displaced, called “Show Your Love: Hats and Gloves,” has been moved to Tonic on Jan. 31. The benefit show asks people to bring hats and gloves for the area’s homeless and has the Apprentice, Rameses and Amad-Jamal and the Solution performing.
Get Fresh Fridays normally take place on the last Friday of each month, and will return on Feb. 27 at the new Se7en Tea House location at the West Street Market.
